It rained really hard here several days ago. It was wonderful! I LOVE rainy days. With Jesus, with my family, it's perfect. I've started reading the OT in the original Hebredingw. It's so much more complete that way, in my opinion. Many important things are lost in the translation from Hebrew to English. I'm part Hebrew and my freshman year in college I took two semesters of intro Hebrew (and fell in love with the language). My dad bought me the Interlinear NIV Hebrew-English OT; it's a great reference used in conjunction with the Hebrew OT off blueletterbible.com and, my favorite, the Biblia Hebraica. So I was reading Song of Songs and found this in 1:8
הַיָּפָה בַּנָּשִׁים
which is well translated, in my limited understanding, as "the beautiful in women." To put this in context the whole verse is this:
If you do not know, most beautiful of women,
follow the tracks of the sheep
and graze your young goats
by the tents of the shepherds.
And I think that when read the first way, it's talking about our Beloved. Jesus is the beautiful in women. He is the Source of beauty. I think Song of Songs can be read with us and God as the lovers in it. I just really wanted to share that - I thought it was pretty :)
I finally graduated from college last week (or was it two weeks ago? It's summer & I forget things more quickly nowadays). And now begins a wonderful summer with our Beloved and my wife and family. Hopefully, with more rainy days!
